The Bible
preparations for the passover
Mt
26:17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus and said, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?" 26:18 He said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The teacher says, "My appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples."'" 26:19 The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered, and prepared the Passover.
The Betrayer.
26:20 When it was evening, he reclined at table with the Twelve. 26:21 And while they were eating, he said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." 26:22 Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after another, "Surely it is not I, Lord?" 26:23 He said in reply, "He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me is the one who will betray me. 26:24 The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had never been born." 26:25 Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" He answered, "You have said so."
The Lord's Supper.
26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body." 26:27 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, 26:28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. 26:29 I tell you, from now on I shall not drink this fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it with you new in the kingdom of my Father." 26:30 Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Peter's Denial Foretold.
26:31 Then Jesus said to them, "This night all of you will have your faith in me shaken, for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be dispersed'; 26:32 but after I have been raised up, I shall go before you to Galilee." 26:33 Peter said to him in reply, "Though all may have their faith in you shaken, mine will never be." 26:34 Jesus said to him, "Amen, I say to you, this very night before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." 26:35 Peter said to him, "Even though I should have to die with you, I will not deny you." And all the disciples spoke likewise.
Mk
14:12 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?" 14:13 He sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man will meet you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him. 14:14 Wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"' 14:15 Then he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there." 14:16 The disciples then went off, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
The Betrayer.
14:17 When it was evening, he came with the Twelve. 14:18 And as they reclined at table and were eating, Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me." 14:19 They began to be distressed and to say to him, one by one, "Surely it is not I?" 14:20 He said to them, "One of the Twelve, the one who dips with me into the dish. 14:21 For the Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had never been born."

14:22 While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." 14:23 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 14:24 He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. 14:25 Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." 14:26 Then, after singing a hymn, * they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Peter's Denial Foretold.
14:27 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will have your faith shaken, for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be dispersed.' 14:28 But after I have been raised up, I shall go before you to Galilee." 14:29 Peter said to him, "Even though all should have their faith shaken, mine will not be." 14:30 Then Jesus said to him, "Amen, I say to you, this very night before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times." 14:31 But he vehemently replied, "Even though I should have to die with you, I will not deny you." And they all spoke similarly.
Lk
22:7 When the day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread arrived, the day for sacrificing the Passover lamb, 22:8 he sent out Peter and John, instructing them, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover." 22:9 They asked him, "Where do you want us to make the preparations?" 22:10 And he answered them, "When you go into the city, a man will meet you carrying a jar of water. Follow him into the house that he enters 22:11 and say to the master of the house, 'The teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"' 22:12 He will show you a large upper room that is furnished. Make the preparations there." 22:13 Then they went off and found everything exactly as he had told them, and there they prepared the Passover.
The Last Supper.
22:14 When the hour came, he took his place at table with the apostles. 22:15 He said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, 22:16 for, I tell you, I shall not eat it (again) until there is fulfillment in the kingdom of God." 22:17 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and said, "Take this and share it among yourselves; 22:18 for I tell you (that) from this time on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." 22:19 Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me." 22:20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.
The Betrayal Foretold.
22:21 "And yet behold, the hand of the one who is to betray me is with me on the table; 22:22 for the Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed." 22:23 And they began to debate among themselves who among them would do such a deed.
The Role of the Disciples.
22:24 Then an argument broke out among them about which of them should be regarded as the greatest. 22:25 He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them and those in authority over them are addressed as 'Benefactors'; 22:26 but among you it shall not be so. Rather, let the greatest among you be as the youngest, and the leader as the servant. 22:27 For who is greater: the one seated at table or the one who serves? Is it not the one seated at table? I am among you as the one who serves. 22:28 It is you who have stood by me in my trials; 22:29 and I confer a kingdom on you, just as my Father has conferred one on me, 22:30 that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Peter's Denial Foretold.
22:31 "Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat, 22:32 but I have prayed that your own faith may not fail; and once you have turned back, you must strengthen your brothers." 22:33 He said to him, "Lord, I am prepared to go to prison and to die with you." 22:34 But he replied, "I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me."
Instructions for the Time of Crisis.
22:35 He said to them, "When I sent you forth without a money bag or a sack or sandals, were you in need of anything?" "No, nothing," they replied. 22:36 He said to them, "But now one who has a money bag should take it, and likewise a sack, and one who does not have a sword should sell his cloak and buy one. 22:37 For I tell you that this scripture must be fulfilled in me, namely, 'He was counted among the wicked'; and indeed what is written about me is coming to fulfillment." 22:38 Then they said, "Lord, look, there are two swords here." But he replied, "It is enough!"

The Washing of the Disciples' Feet.
13:1 Before the feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end. 13:2 The devil had already induced Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot, to hand him over. So, during supper, 13:3 fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God, 13:4 he rose from supper and took off his outer garments. He took a towel and tied it around his waist. 13:5 * Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. 13:6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Master, are you going to wash my feet?" 13:7 Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later." 13:8 Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me." 13:9 Simon Peter said to him, "Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well." 13:10 Jesus said to him, "Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all." 13:11 For he knew who would betray him; for this reason, he said, "Not all of you are clean." 13:12 So when he had washed their feet (and) put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, "Do you realize what I have done for you? 13:13 You call me 'teacher' and 'master,' and rightly so, for indeed I am. 13:14 If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. 13:15 I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do. 13:16 Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger * greater than the one who sent him. 13:17 If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it. 13:18 I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But so that the scripture might be fulfilled, 'The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.' 13:19 From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM. 13:20 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."
Announcement of Judas' Betrayal.
13:21 When he had said this, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, "Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." 13:22 The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant. 13:23 One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at Jesus' side. 13:24 So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant. 13:25 He leaned back against Jesus' chest and said to him, "Master, who is it?" 13:26 Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it." So he dipped the morsel and (took it and) handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. 13:27 After he took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly." 13:28 (Now) none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him. 13:29 Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him, "Buy what we need for the feast," or to give something to the poor. 13:30 So he took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.
